Q: DO WE GET TO CHOOSE HOW MUCH COLOR OR B&W, YOU WILL TAKE?
We can make any image black and white. Sometimes it depends on the image and lighting of the shot if we turn the image black and white. We usually do 65% color and 35% B&W. But if the client prefers one over the other then we are happy to make changes accordingly.
Q: WHAT KIND OF CAMERA/EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
Canon 5d Mark II – it’s a top of the line full-frame camera that captures color rich images of you and your loved ones! In my bag I have a 50mm 1.8 portrait lens, a 24-70mm 2.8 zoom lens that I use for group shots, and a 70-200mm 2.8 zoom lens that I use to get in close from the pew without being a distraction to the wedding guests.
Q: WHAT IF WE NEED TO CHANGE THE WEDDING DATE AFTER BOOKING?
If you need to change your booked date, you must do so no later than (6) six weeks prior to the original booked date. Each contract will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine if I can carry the deposit forward to another date depending on my availability. If it works to carry the deposit to another date then there will be a $100 rebooking fee charged. Retainer’s fee is non-refundable once paid.
Q: WHAT IF MY WEDDING IS CANCELLED?
If the wedding is canceled for any reason, the retainer’s fee is forfeited. Once your date is booked and secured with a deposit, we must decline all other photography requests for that date and time, therefore the deposit is non-refundable.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?
I love working with natural light and my photography is what I like to call artistic documentary photography! I have an engaging, friendly personality and no matter who I am photographing, my goal is to help my subjects be at ease and to have as much fun as possible so that your personalities shine through in the photographs. This is also true of my second shooters, including my wonderful wife Laura.
Q: ARE THERE ANY TRAVEL FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION AND/OR WEDDING DAY?
Yes, traveling costs are based on how far we will need to travel, if we will need to spend the night, etc. If the wedding is in West Michigan then there are no additional travel costs.
Q: WHAT DO YOU REQUIRE TO RESERVE THE WEDDING DATE? WHAT HAPPENS AFTER?
We will meet and go over the contract and agreement. The retainer’s fee is paid on the day we meet to sign the contract. The amount of your retainer depends on the package you choose.
Q: HOW MANY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE?
I have 9 years experience working in digital video and photography.
Q: HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU SUGGEST WE SET ASIDE FOR WEDDING DAY PHOTOS?
I suggest at least two hours for bride and groom, bridal party and family photos. It all depends on what you would like documented. I set aside the whole day for your wedding.
Q: WHAT SIZE CAN WE PRINT OUR PHOTOS AND WHAT IMAGE RIGHTS DO WE HAVE?
I give my clients all their edited images in High Resolution jpeg on a DVD. These full-size images are at a resolution of 4096 x 2731 pixels before cropping. Photographed toward print usage, these images are delivered at 300 DPI and saved using very high quality settings.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR TURN AROUND TIME ON PHOTOS?
For wedding photos, I have it in all my contracts that I will get the images edited and back to you no later than 3 months after your wedding day. Engagement shoots are a little different and I tell clients to expect their images no later than 1 month after the engagement shoot.
Q: DO YOU BACK UP YOUR IMAGES?
How can we ensure that our images won’t be lost? I have all images from your wedding on my external hard-drive. I hold them for 1 year after I give you your DVD with all of your wedding images.
Q: HOW LATE DO YOU STAY ON THE DAY OF THE WEDDING?
I stay until about halfway through the dancing at the Reception. Once your guests have gotten on the dance floor and I have captured lots of fun, candid shots of the celebration then I take my leave. If you are having a grand exit that you would like me to capture I am more than happy to stay as long as your need me. Like I said, I reserve the whole day for your wedding.
